INRA at the 2018 Paris International Agricultural Show

At the 55th Paris International Agricultural Show (SIA), INRA will be placing the genetic resources that serve agricultural and food systems in the spotlight. Its stand will also feature a recruitment hub, where the institute’s research areas and employment opportunities will be presented.

The stand (Hall 4, stand 87)

For over 50 years, INRA and its partners have been building biological collections that represent a large proportion of the diversity found in micro-organisms, animals, and both wild and cultivated plants. These collections are a major asset, providing key resources for studying the living world, creating new plant varieties adapted to our needs, breeding livestock, and improving the micro-organisms used in food processing (e.g., fermentation) or green chemistry (i.e., the bioeconomy). Research scientists will be at the stand, presenting their work involving these rich genetic resources. Their three-fold mission is to preserve, explore, and exploit genetic diversity. These scientists will also be available to meet with members of the public and with professionals. There will be a recruitment hub at the stand, describing INRA’s main research disciplines and different employment opportunities (including the skills applicants must have). Éditions Quae will also present, accompanied by a selection of its publications.

The symposium

On Tuesday, February 27, a scientific symposium on the diversity of agricultural systems will be held.
