The missions of the Animal Genetics Division are to improve our understanding of the genetic determinism of traits in domestic animals and more generally to enlarge our knowledge in integrative biology. Our second mission is to develop methods and tools for the genetic improvement and conservation of farm animal populations.
Our studies are mainly focussed on cattle, pigs, chickens, sheep and trout but also on rabbits, horses, goats, ducks and quail. Rodents (mice, rats) and the Medaka fish are used as models for generic studies.
The Division publishes an international peer-review journal, “Genetics Selection Evolution”
