Partnership policy and collaborations

The Division's varied research activities and presence all over France has helped create very diversified partnerships, both on the academic and commercial level, in France, Europe and abroad. In addition, we have many collaborations with other INRA research Divisions.

The Division's historical mission of animal genetic improvement has promoted intense partnerships with the breeding industries implicated. This historical partnership has now extended to other fields of research and in particular to genomics via Agenae.

Genomic progress of livestock species has made the questions of research, methods and tools merge: comparative mapping, genome sequencing, access to shared platforms, search for genes underlying genetic variability but also the policy of geographic poles have led to new collaborations with other communities of geneticists and biologists.

INRA has also reinforced its partnerships with schools and universities, notably by an increasing participation in the early years of higher education, in doctoral training and continuing education. Many experts in our fields have been trained, therefore attracting higher quality students.

On the international level
, our partnerships are centered around important axes :
  • European and North American poles in genetics and animal genomics;
  • local networks for regionally important species (dairy sheep, rabbits) where we have a strong position;
  • axis to the tropical zone through the URZ and bilateral collaborations and with the CIRAD.
