The journal is now being published in Open Access and is therefore available free-of-charge to all. The 2007 impact factor is 1.735.

The new web site of Genetics Selection Evolution (GSE) is www.gsejournal.org

In January 2009, GSE is the first journal focussed on original research in genetics and selection of livestock and experimental animals to be published as an Open Access (OA) journal. With this change to OA, the journal is now available free-of-charge to all its readers. It is an opportunity that the editorial staff did not want to miss.

We are also pleased to announce that BioMed Central (BMC) is our new publisher from January 2009 on. BMC is the largest publisher of OA journals in Biology and Medicine. GSE, however, remains the property of INRA. In fact, the journal will continue having the same name, the same aims and scope, the same editorial policy and editorial board.

BMC offers high quality technology for its editorial tools and the diffusion of its journals. All the articles published by BMC are available in HTML and PDF formats along with XML for an improved diffusion on databases. In addition, the articles from GSE will be deposited in PubMed Central as well as in other free archives (http://www.biomedcentral.com/info/libraries/archive).

The archives of GSE and of its mother journal (Annales de Génétique et de Sélection Animales) from 1969 to 2008 will soon be available on the BMC web site but will remain available free-of-charge as well on the EDP Sciences web site (http://www.gse-journal.org/). The editorial office would like to thank EDP Sciences, its publisher from 2000 to 2008, for the excellent services rendered during this period.

The first articles of GSE published by BMC may be discovered on the web site, open since January 5 2009.
