[R]Description
A characteristic greyish soft rot made of mycelium conidiophores and conidia covers the fruits which mummify.
[R]Biology
The fungus survives saprophitically as sclerotia and mycelium in the cankers, dead leaves and mummified fruits. In the flowering stage the spores germinate and the germination hyphae enter the ovule where the fungus remains latent until maturity.
[R]Epidemiology
High humidity levels and 15 -20 °C. optimum temperature facilitate the spread of the disease.
[R]Treatement
Use a locally reccommended fungicide.
Ensure good ventilation of the crop.
