[R]Description
Under humid conditions young fruits show brown lesions which become sunken and are covered by thick grey mould.
[R]Biology
The fungus enters through wounds often caused by Balanin stings. Storage of fresh hazelnuts on their bases can also facilitate the development of the disease.
The fungus survives as sclerotia or mycelium in dormant buds.
[R]Epidemiology
High humidity favours the infection.
Rain and wind spread the conidia and disseminate the disease.
[R]Treatement
Add proper fungicide to treatments against Balanin attacks.
