[R]Description
White thin powdery mycelial lesions appear on the leaves in summer.
Yield loss caused by the reduction of chlorophil assimilation.
Drop of yield and quality of the seed crops.
[R]Biology
Conidia form on external mycelium (powdery mildew aspect) and spread the parasite.
Perithecia (granulations) occur at an advanced stage of the disease and preserve the fungus through unfavourable conditions.
[R]Epidemiology
The disease occurs in some isolated hosts, then extends to the totality of the field.
An optimum temperature of 20 °C. is necessary for mycelial development.
For conidial formation alternate humid and dry conditions are required.
Conidia are wind-borne.
