[R]Identification
In longitudinal section the roots show an orange-brown discoloration of the vascular tissues.

[R]Description
The presence of this fungus and F solani in the soil causes damping-off.
Roots become necrotic and collar rot occurs.
The leaves at the base turn yellow, the leaflets and stipules curl and the foliage withers.
Under dry conditions death may ensue before pod formation.

The fungus survives as mycelium and spores in the soil.

Five years rotations are recommended.
Use treated seeds.
Sow on healthy soil avoiding very early crops.
