[R]Description
The fungus is severely damaging in apple and less frequent in pear.
The leaf spots are of minor importance.
On fruits rot forms from a lenticel ; it is usually round, with a black center containing a mucilaginous pinkish mass.
[R]Biology
The fungus produces dark grey perithecia which carry the orange mucilagenous droplets.
It overwinters as mycelium in the cankers and as perithecia which occur in autumn.
[R]Epidemiology
The optimum temperature for spore germination is 25 °C. in minimum 92 % RH conditions.
