The leaf-sheaths lesions are yellowish-brown with a darker brown irregular margin and a torn center ("cigarette hole" spots). On the stems, the lesions are elongated, oval, with a regular outline and a very pale center. Pinkish-white and purplish-brown pseudo-sclerotia are formed on these spots.
