[R]Description
Green or white mosaic often accompanied by a filiform appearance of the leaves.
[R]Biology
Virus transmission is very easy through contact during the cultural operations (implements, clothes), through seeds, water (via the roots) mostly in the glasshouses. The virus survives in the seeds, on plant debris, in the soil and the mould.
[R]Epidemiology
.
[R]Treatement
Use healthy seeds (seed sterilization through heating to 80 °C. for 24 hours : thermotherapy).
Use resistant cultivars.
Direct drilling advised (in field crops) to avoid contamination caused by plant handling in the seedbeds.
The premunition of plants with a low pathogenicity strain has been an efficient method to protect susceptible cultivars.
