.

[R]Description
This bacterium causes little polygonal water-soaked lesions (1-2mm diameter) yellowish-green to dark green on the leaves and husks.
On the twigs the necrotic lesions are brown and are localised on the apex and the nodes.
Severe loss is reported in the nurseries : cankers and die-back of the twigs which collapse at the canker spot.

[R]Biology
.

[R]Epidemiology
Dye is spread through appliances and also by rains and wind.
The nurseries are seriously affected when there is no water-supply.

[R]Treatement
Remove the marcots which carry the cankers and necroses.
Avoid water-spraying the crop.
Facilitate early planting of the seedlings and protect them against overheating.
