Marrow, Courgette


[R] Cucurbita pepo L. (Cucurbitaceae).
Fr: Courgette; Ge: Zucchini; Sp: Calabacin; It: Zucchina; Pt: Aboborinha.

- A gourd having long fruits with a green skin, that are consumed as a vegetable (*) .
- It may be cultivated under shelter in southern regions where it is sown around the 15th of February, transplanted a month later and harvested from April to June.
- In the case of outdoor cultivation, the plants are placed in the fields around 15th April in the south of France and in May for cooler regions; harvesting begins at the beginning of June in the south of France and the end of June in colder regions.
