[R] Order of soft-bodied, holometabolous insects with transparent, usually similar wings (with many veins), held in a roof-like position when in repose. Larvae, with feet, have mouthparts adapted for chewing or sucking; they are carnivorous.
2 suborders : Megaloptera and Planipennia. The latter includes valuable beneficial insects: ant-lions and particularly Chrysopa, important enemies of aphids.
