The French Association of Soil Science

The French Association of Soil Science

Founded in 1934, by Albert DEMOLON, the French Association of Soil Science (AFES) is an associatoin dedicated to the study of the soils and which counts at present more than 500 members. The AFES is member of the UISS (International Union of Soil Science) and constitutes its French branch.

It has for main purposes:

  • to promote the development of the study of the soil, under all its aspects, in all its applications and by all means.
  • to create links between the members of the French scientific and technical communities interested in the various branches of the soil science and in its applications.
  • to establish close relationships with similar foreign organizations, and in particular the IUSS at the international level
  • to promote, help, coordinate researches and spread the application of their results
  • to draw attention of authorities and agricultural organizations on the utilitarian character of these researches.
