- A genus of grasses, including many forage species, separated into groups: the tall fescue grasses and the short fescue grasses (*) .
- The most common is Festuca arundinacea, which is perennial and very tall (up to 2m). The inflorescence is a spread out panicule made up of spikelets containing 4 to 8 flowers. It is sown in spring, (March-April) or at the end of summer, often together with white clover. It has a life of 6 to 15 years. Its cultivation is similar to that of cocksfoot.
