- Perennial forage legume, 15 to 20 cm tall (*), more or less creeping and insect pollinated. It is found throughout the world in natural and artificial fields.
- It is most often grown in pure stands, but may be together with cocksfoot or fescue. It is used for hay or pasture.
- Bird's-foot trefoil may be harvested two times during the year of sowing.
