[R] Feeding channel made between the upper and lower surfaces of a leaf by a phytophagous larva of Insecta, or leaf miner. The shape of the mine (linear, ramified or spiral) and the arrangement of the frass (faecal matter) usually make it possible to identify a pest precisely.
Mines may also occur on the outer layers of stems.
