Corvidae

[R] These birds probably rank amongst the most evolved of Passeriformes. Of a large or medium size, they are stout, cunning, intelligent and often destructive. Their beak is elongate but with no fixed shape. The tail is shortened or curled but never forked, the legs being robust with 4 well-developed toes. Feathers are either black and glossy or soft and rather brown or blue. These birds are omnivorous but are not songbirds, rather emitting loud harsh cries.
Present in Europe are the magpie (Pica pica), the carrion crow (Corvus corone) and the rook (Corvus frugigelus).
