[R] Family of aphids with complex life cycle, limited to woody, deciduous trees and plants.
Both parthenogenetic and sexed females are oviparous. Wings are held flat on the abdomen when in repose.
The most well-known phylloxerid is the grape phylloxera
(Dactylosphaera vitifoliae). The pear phylloxera
(Aphanostigma piri) is also a serious pest.
