Mangrove Buckeye
SystematicsJunonia evarete and Junonia genoveva are confused (under the name evarete) in many works until 1985 (Turner P.W. & Parnell J.R., 1985, J. Res. Lep., 24: 142-153).
Biology and distributionLarva on black mangrove, Avicennia germinans (Verbenaceae).
Common in Guadeloupe near the mangrove. Exists probably in Martinique and in all Caribbean mangroves. The recent revision of status between evarete and genoveva needs a reexamination of older collections to check the distribution of both species.
Barbuda.
Throughout the Greater Antilles.
Probably from Texas to Brazil, along the east coast of America (limits of Avicennia).
