The AgroParisTech/INRA Joint Research Unit is
part of the MMIP (Mathematical Modelling, Informatics and Physics)
Division of AgroParisTech. It has three types of activity (research,
teaching and service provision) covering two principal areas:
statistics and informatics.
It consists of three teams :
In the
field of statistics and genomes, research activities concern statistical
methods for genome sequencing for biologists, detecting significant
motifs in a sequence, detecting genes, reconstructing phylogenies,
studying the statistical properties of alignment scores and analysing
data expression.
In developing
mathematical models for biology and the environment, we promote
the use of mathematics and statistics to meet the requirements
of other disciplines, particularly environmental modelling which
is spatial by nature: precision farming, the dissemination of
genes and contaminants, spatial aspects of ecology, rainfall and
flooding.
Statistics and programming are taught to student
engineers throughout their three-year course and in several courses
for 'advanced studies diplomas' (DEA). Numerous doctoral students
in statistics and informatics are also welcomed.
