The MICA Division in brief ...


 

The Microbiology and the Food Chain Division (MICA) is one of the 14 scientific divisions of INRA. Most of the microbiologists working for the Institute are attached to the Division’s 20 research units spread throughout France.
 
The MICA Division’s research primarily focuses on the microbiology of the food chain in humans and animals.

The missions of MICA

  • Acquire fundamental knowledge within the scope of INRA’s research missions
  • Contribute to sustainable development through microbiology
  • Reduce microbial risks in animal health, the food chain and human health

Socio-economics challenges of MICA

  • Improve the microbiological quality of foods
  • Prevent microbial risks relative to public health
  • Reduce the risks of zoonoses
  • Develop white biotechnologies
  • Transfer knowledge in the fields of nutrition and health
