Biology and distribution

Larva on Heliotropium.

Far less common in the Antilles than Utetheisa ornatrix, but perhaps extending.

Guadeloupe: coastal zones of Grande Terre, Anse à la Gourde, St-François (7 moths caught).
Martinique: Pointe des Salines, Rivière Pilote (Pinchon and Enrico), Colson (Delplanque), Grand Macabou (Ryckewaert).
St-Bartholomew (Pinchon and Enrico).

It is a cosmopolitan species, of African origin, reported from Puerto Rico by Forbes in 1927, discovered in Martinique in 1963 and in Guadeloupe in 1983.
