Biology and distribution

Host-plant unknown, the adults pierce fruit cuticle with their proboscis. They are sometimes reported as pests on Citrus.

A common species in Guadeloupe and Martinique.
Les Saintes.

St-Kitts, Montserrat, Dominica, St-Lucia, St-Vincent, Grenada (G. b. tenebrosa).
Cuba (type specimen of G. bidens), Jamaica, Hispaniola (G. b. bidens).

From Texas to north of Colombia and Venezuela (G. b. tenebrosa), and from south of Colombia and Venezuela to Argentina (G. b. meridionalis) (Todd,1959).
