Sources

Specimens were identified by Dr. P. Thiaucourt. (Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris). The main source dealing with the Notodontidae in Guadeloupe is: Thiaucourt P., 1973. Lépidoptères Notodontidae de Guadeloupe. Bull. Soc. Entomol. France, 78: 213-215. This reference lists 7 species collected by J. Brun at Neufchâteau, near Capesterre in Basse Terre.

The book of R. Pinchon and P. Enrico, 1969. Faune des Antilles Françaises. Les Papillons, Fort de France 258 pp., cites 3 unidentified species from Martinique. One (D. lucia) is shown on a photographic plate, and the others are shortly described in text. These specimens might correspond to N. nyseus and N. ebalea.

Subfamily assignment follows Forbes' classification (W.T.M. Forbes, 1939, Bull. Mus.Comp. Zool., 85: 97-322), to be probably changed soon.
