Description: The mission of the DG for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs is to ensure the delivery of the Commission's political priorities in the area of fisheries, the law of the sea and maritime affairs. A very useful website, providing: information on the EU Fisheries Policy; factsheets;  access to fisheries and aquaculture magazine;  press releases;  research publications etc.

Description: The objective of DG Health & Consumers (Animal Health, Welfare & Zootechnics) is to protect and raise the health status and condition of animals in the community, in particular food-producing animals, whilst permitting intra-community trade and imports of animals and animal products in accordance with the appropriate health standards and international obligations. In terms of zootechnics, the community's zootechnical legislation aims to promote free trade in breeding animals and their genetic material, considering hte sustainability of breeding programmes and the preservation of genetic resources.

Description: The NASCO is an international organisation established under the convention for the conservation of salmon in the North Atlantic Ocean, which entered into force on 1st October 1983. The objective of the organisation is to contribute through consultation and cooperation to the conservation, restoration, enhancement and rational management of salmon stocks subject to the Convention. The convention applies to the salmon stocks that migrate beyond areas of fisheries jurisdiction of coastal states of the Atlantic Ocean, north of 36°N latitude and through their migratory range.

Description: On the 24th October 2006, the EC issued Directive 2006/88/EC dealing with the health requirements for aquaculture animals and their products, and on the prevention and control of certain diseases in aquatic animals. The aim of the directive is to improve the health status of fish and shellfish farmed in the EU via the implementation of clear-cut and harmonised rules.

Description: The National Aquaculture Legislation Overview (NALO) consist of a series of comparative national overviews of aquaculture laws and regulations from the top 40 aquaculture producing countries, which have been prepared in collaboration with the FAO Development Law Service. The preparation of the overviews is primary based on FAOLEX, a legislative database containing the world's largest electronic collection of national laws and regulations on food and agriculture, following a standard template. Further material has been collected from national sources. NALO fact sheets are updated on a regular basis, every 2/3 years.

Description: The Aquatic Animal Drug Approval Partnership (AADAP) Program is a broad, partnership-based program of national scope located in Bozeman, Montana. The mission of the AADAP Program is: Working with partners to conserve, protect, and enhance the Nation’s fishery resources by coordinating activities to obtain U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for drugs, chemicals, and therapeutants needed in aquaculture and fisheries management programs.

Description: The ANMV is a public body, incorporated within the French Food Safety Agency. The Agency is in charge of market authorisations for veterinary medecines, control of veterinary pharmaceutical companies and control of veterinary medicine quality.
