Workplan

Workpackage I
Potential impact of recombinational gene flow from CMV-resistant transgenic plants to cucumoviral genomes and between sobemo- and luteovirus genomes

Participants

Objectives: Evaluate the occurence and frequency of RNA-RNA recombination in doubly-infected non-transgenic plants and in singly-infected transgenic plants after infection by cucumo-, sobemo- or luteoviruses.

Workpackage II
Potential impact of recombinational gene flow from potyvirus resistant transgenic plants to potyviral genomes

Participants:

Objectives:
Evaluate the occurence and frequency of RNA-RNA recombination in doubly-infected non-transgenic plants and in singly-infected transgenic plants after infection by potyviruses.

Workpackage III
Molecular epidemiology of recombinant viral genomes in natural populations of cucumoviruses and potyviruses

Participants:

Objectives: Estimate the frequency in the field of recombinants in natural virus populations on non-transgenic host plants.

Workpackage IV
Effects of gene flow from genetically modified virus-resistant crops to wild relatives

Participants:

Objectives: Evaluate the risk of gene flow from transgenic virus resistant rapeseed or sugar beet to related plants.
