MetaGenoPolis

MetaGenoPolis, an industrial biotechnology catalyst in quantitative and functional meta-genomics, constitutes a revolutionary scientific approach for human health and well-being. This project explores the billions of bacteria in the human intestine to reveal how and to what extent they affect human health.

The human intestine is home to 100 000 billion bacteria, i.e. 30 times the amount of genes in the human genome! These protective bacteria are believed to play a role in many metabolic, and even neurological, diseases: a revolution for science and medicine. INRA ranks number one in the world for research on the human meta-genome and benefits from an industrial biotechnology catalyst in quantitative and functional meta-genomics at its experimental site in Jouy-en-Josas.
