The human intestine is home to 100 000 billion bacteria, i.e. 30 times the amount of genes in the human genome! These protective bacteria are believed to play a role in many metabolic, and even neurological, diseases: a revolution for science and medicine. INRA ranks number one in the world for research on the human meta-genome and benefits from an industrial biotechnology catalyst in quantitative and functional meta-genomics at its experimental site in Jouy-en-Josas.
