[R]Biology
- Host plants: vine, apple, pear, lavender (Lavendula), maize, Rubus, oak (Quercus), poplar (Populus), various Prunus, pine (Pinus), mulberry (Morus).
- Eggs: They are laid in clusters of 10 to 100 on the underside of the leaves (*) .
- Larva: it gnaws the lower epidermis and the leaf parenchyma after having built a slight web (*) . It also feeds on fruit: on late apples, the bites are localised around the peduncle; on grapes, it nibbles the fruit, penetrates them and gnaws the pedicel. It hibernates in a silken sheath spun between neighbouring leaves.
[R]Life Cycle
- 2 to 3 annual generations according to the lattitude and the altitude.
- The larvae are generally observed end of May and at the beginning of August.
[R]Damage
On apple, the most serious damage occurs in September-October on late varieties. On vine, the attacks occuring at fruit maturation aid the penetration of fungi and the development of moulds.
