Arthropoda


[R] Large phylum of the animal kingdom including the arachnids (spiders, scorpions, mites, etc.), the crustaceans (such as the woodlice), the myriapods (symphilids, diplopods, chilopods) and the insects. The arthropods are articulate animals, their body being protected and supported by the integument. Development occurs through a succession of moults.
